Leslie's work examines the architecture of form, the body, and the natural world. As a student, Leslie used anatomy books as source material for vivid nonobjective works suggesting landscapes, mysterious still life objects, and at times full abstracts. Leslie's most recent works represent a natural transition from anatomy studies to paintings of shells and fish bones found while beach combing near her home in Charleston, SC.
Her latest series explores the architecture of the ocean and consists of both small- and large-scale beach finds that, at times, take on anthropomorphic qualities.
